  1. Volume + Drive Definitions
  2.  
  3. Note: This list is comprised of all mounted volumes and any empty drives for
  4.            which information is available.  If there is a SCSI board in a slot of the
  5.            machine, some additional information on the drive is available in the 
  6.            Slot category.  Information for a particular volume/drive is only
  7.            listed if it is applicable
  8.  
  9.            The Mount button allows you to mount all volumes which are off-line.  It
  10.            depends upon the state of the drivers and if it does not work after two 
  11.            or three clicks, you will probably have to reboot to get the volume
  12.            back on line.  After each press of the button, the results will appear 
  13.            above the button stating how many volumes were mounted and, if any 
  14.            were mounted, inform you that the Volume/Drive List was updated 
  15.            to reflect this change

  19. ‚Ä¢ Volume Name = Name of volume if one is present in drive.  "Not in Queue" 
  20.            means that the drive is not entered in the drive queue but that its driver 
  21.            is entered in the Unit Table
  22.    ‚óä File Count = Number of files on volume [Volume Mounted]
  23.    ‚óä Folder Count = Number of folders on volume [Volume Mounted]
  24.    ‚óä Boot Volume = Was this Volume used to startup the machine?
  25.    ‚óä Port = Is the drive on an internal or external port?  A floppy drive #1 and
  26.               a SCSI drive #0 are considered internal
  27.    ‚óä Media = Does the drive use fixed or removable (e.g. a cartridge) media?
  28.    ‚óä Hardware Lock = Is the disk containing the volume physically locked?

  30.    ‚óä Software Lock = Is the volume locked by software? [Volume Mounted]
  31.    ‚óä Hierarchical = Is the volume organized in a hierarchical manner or is it flat
  32.               file.  Flat file generally only applies to 400K floppies [Volume Mounted]
  33.    ‚óä Drive Type = Indicates the type of floppy drive (e.g. Superdrive, 800K,
  34.               400K).  [Media = Removable]
  35.    ‚óä Size = Capacity of volume or capacity of drive if no volume is mounted
  36.    ‚óä Free = Free space on volume [Volume Mounted]
  37.    ‚óä Allocation Block Size = Minimum number of bytes which can be allocated
  38.               to a new file or added to an existing file when it runs out of space 
  39.               [Volume Mounted]
  40.    ‚óä Last Initialized = Date and time volume was last initialized [Volume 
  41.               Mounted]
  42.    ‚óä Last Backup = Date and time volume was last backed up.  This may not be
  43.               accurate if for some reason the backup software used does not set this
  44.               information [Volume Mounted]
  45.    ‚óä Volume# =  Volume number assigned to volume when mounted. Always a
  46.               negative number [Volume Mounted]
  47.    ‚óä Drive# = Drive number assigned to drive when it‚Äôs driver is assigned a 
  48.               position in the device table and the drive is entered in the drive queue
  49.    ‚óä SCSI# = The number set mechanically on the drive if it is a SCSI drive on the
  50.               on the standard SCSI bus
  51.    ‚óä Nubus/PDS Slot# = Number of the Slot containing the card for this
  52.               drive [Slot w/SCSI Card]
  53.    ‚óä Nubus/PDS sResource# = Number of sResource related to the Slot card
  54.               controlling this drive [Slot w/SCSI Card]
  55.    ‚óä Nubus/PDS Device# = Slot device number related to the Slot card
  56.               controlling this drive [Slot w/SCSI Card]
  57.    ‚óä Driver# = Number of the driver controlling the drive. Check Driver list
  58.    ‚óä Driver Name = Name of the driver controlling the drive. Check Driver list
  59.    ‚óä Volume Attributes :  [Volume Mounted] [System 7]
  60.       + Boot Blocks = Is the volume capable of being a startup volume?
  61.       + Switch Launch = Is switch-launch to this volume allowed?
  62.       + System Directory = Does the volume support a system 
  63.               directory? If not, you may not attempt a switch-launch to it
  64.       + External File System = Was the volume created by a Non-Mac
  65.               operating system, e.g. DOS?
  66.       + File IDs = Does the volume support the System 7 
  67.               procedure for tracking files?  This helps developers keep track of files 
  68.               used by their applications
  69.       + Folder Lock = Can folders on this volume be locked?
  70.       + Edit Volume Name = Can the volume name be changed
  71.       + System 7 desktop Functions = Does the volume 
  72.               support the new desktop features such as aliasing, stationary, find file,
  73.               etc.?
  74.       + AFP Privilege Functions = Does the volume support the AFP 
  75.               (Appletalk Filing Protocol) that allows for application and file sharing?
  76.       + AFP Access Control Functions = Volume supports PBHGetLoginInfo,
  77.               PBHGetDirAccess, PBHSetDirAccess, PBHMapID, and PBHMapName
  78.       + AFP Short Names = Yes/No
  79.       + Inherited Folder Privileges = Can folders inherit access privileges
  80.               from parent folders?
  81.       + PBCatSearch = Does the volume support the System 7 method for
  82.               searching a volume quickly, e.g. as used by Find File?
  83.       + PBHMoveRename = Yes/No
  84.       + PBHCopyFile = Yes/No
  85.       + PBHOpenDeny = Yes/No
